AMC 2026 Key Dates
The AMC competitions are administered by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). Here are the typical dates for the 2026 competition cycle:
AMC 8: Usually held in January. Registration opens in September/October of the prior year. The exam is administered at schools.
AMC 10/12 A: Usually held in early-to-mid November. AMC 10/12 B: Usually held about two weeks after the A date.

How to Register
Students cannot register individually β AMC exams are administered through schools. Ask your math teacher or school administrator to register your school as a test site.
If your school does not offer the AMC, you can find nearby test centers through the MAA website or contact local math circles and tutoring centers that may host the exam.
Registration Fees
Schools pay a registration fee per student. The typical cost is around $2-3 per student for AMC 8 and $3-4 per student for AMC 10/12. Some schools cover the cost; others ask students to pay.
How to Prepare in Time
If the AMC is 6+ months away, you have plenty of time. Start with a diagnostic test, then follow a structured study plan.
If the AMC is 1-3 months away, focus on your weakest topics and take timed practice tests weekly.
If the AMC is less than 1 month away, do full timed practice tests and review all wrong answers thoroughly.
